Dear Friends, Whether surrounded by family and friends or peacefully relaxing, the holidays are a time for reflection, taking in the year past and looking ahead to the year ahead. Wishing you warmth, love, and hope at this special time of year. What have I been busy doing? A new book for 2023! I have recently finished the manuscript for my next book, and my dear Editor at Penguin Random House, Hilary, absolutely loves it. There'll be more about that in the new year, suffice to say that I'm sure this one will go down a treat. Book Six is in the pipeline! Yes, I've been busy thinking through ideas for my next book, and already one very special story has come to the fore. I read about it many years ago in a memoir, and with a little time, a lot of thought, and some healthy imagination, all the characters, the settings, and that feeling of timeliness can be brought back to life. This is how most of my tales come to light. First I read a few lines in old letters or a memoir, then I imagine how that must have come to happen, how it must have felt. Finally I take a rendering of the characters: what were they like, how did they look, what was important to them. What would they do to save those they loved?
